Surge
Surge runs projects to develop street arts, physical theatre and circus in Scotland. We work with artists, performance companies and educators at all levels of experience. We also run the Surge Festival, our annual event, which takes place each July and brings new Scottish work and cutting edge international performances to the streets, theatres and unusual spaces of Glasgow.
Surge's key partners including Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life, as well as a range of local authorities, festivals, multiple independent artists, established arts organisations, educational institutions, and other companies producing work across almost all major art forms. Surge's vision is for a vibrant, thriving and ever-evolving physical performance sector in Scotland.
Our yearly programme includes surgery mornings, quarterly Pitch events, which provide show development, scratch nights and networking opportunities, our Community Street Theatre tour and collaborative theatre project, The Mash Collective as well as festival activities such as our annual Surge Festival. We also provide extensive residency opportunities participatory workshops, mentorship and training schemes in collaboration with international partners.
